About this workshop

Become comfortable with your vulnerable parts.

Often inner voices push us to be better, faster, stronger, to be more perfect, to be the so called “best version of yourself”.

Sometimes these voices can be helpful – sometimes they wear us down.

This experiential space is an invitation to reflect on your inner drivers, encounter them playfully and physically, and discover new ways of coping with them.

This creates space to develop psychological flexibility – the ability to calmly face inner pressure and external challenges and consciously shape your life according to your values.

What concepts we use

Psychological Flexibility: Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Inner Drivers: Be Strong, Be Perfect, Try Hard, Hurry Up, Please Others

Physical Theatre & Embodiment

Workshop Format

Most of the time we are in our heads trying to rationalize our thoughts and beliefs. True and lasting change is happening when we include the experience of our body.

1. Arriving in the Space & Connective Encounters

Movement and interaction tasks help us to create a grounded space and arrive in our bodies.‍

2. Inner Drivers and Psychological Flexibility as a Concept

Start to understand the psychological concepts of inner drivers and find out about your own personal patterns.

3. Exploration & Experience

Explore these concepts, using posture, voice and movement. Notice what shows up most strongly for you and deepen into it solo and in partner exercises. Experiment with theatrical and interactive forms to encounter yourself from different perspectives.

  • Five Inner Drivers
  • Personal Drivers
  • Uncomfortable Belief
  • Alternative Responses

In this process we will challenge our habitual patterns and move beyond the automatic reaction into more flexible possibilities.

4. Reflection & Integration

In certain moments we ask you to pause and observe. What has just happened? We use tools such as writing and small group exchanges.

To begin with, I must say that my body felt the space you held in a safe and exploratory way. The field you co-created was inviting to let one‘s body move freely, explore and get surprised in a contained way, congratulations.

Further, because of my background in Drama Acting and Psychotherapy, I found such a space an excellent ground to explore body to body communication. After working for years from an embodiment approach, and studying and researching in everything that takes place between two bodies doing therapy beyond verbal communication, I encountered in your workshop a fruitful space to explore the bodily processes that take place constantly without us being aware of them. What does each body need? How can I embody an offering of help to the other body? How aware am I of how my body speaks? These questions were enriched by the experience.

I left the workshop inspired and eager to take part in further spaces you two might hold both together or individually. So please, keep me posted!

Once again, congratulations.

Matías C.

I found myself discovering a new way of communicating and expressing, namely with my body, followed by words only after the body had spoken. Instead of the usual thought process, I learned to explore expression physically and realised that the body offers a way to negotiate emotions and relationships of itself and the surroundings. The experience was then distilled and shared in written form, tying ideas and the group together.

I was very surprised to notice how feelings were created purely through the physical and how, in response, those feelings could be explored and answered to also with the physical. It was the first time that I got to know a group of people intimately without speech (except about the movement) and I felt this was a valuable lesson, because it demanded less ego and more vulnerability from everyone involved.

I can recommend this workshop to anyone interested in their emotional landscape and in how emotions are dependent on and shared between people (and animals). Also, to anyone really interested in feeling their body. I have a new appreciation for my physical manifestation after this weekend.

I can't make it to the workshop anymore, what can I do?

Until two weeks in advance to the workshop you can cancel, and get 50% refund. After that no refund is possible. You can always join the next workshop that is happening if you can not attend. Please let me know via e-mail.

I have no experience in movement, can I come?

The Connective Movement Class does not require any prior experience and is good for any level of fitness, if you have any injuries or limitations, remember to communicate them before your session starts. Just be open to experience new sensations and possibilities of movement in your body.

There are workshops and advanced classes, please read the description before or write an e-mail if you have any doubts.

What should I wear?

Bring comfortable clothes that you can move in freely. We suggest nothing that is flowing around too much and can distract you when it's not sitting in place. My recommendation is to work barefoot and with long pants. Bring some water to cleanse your system after the session.
