Open Level.

You should have taken some previous classes or have experience in other movement style.

The workshop is physically demanding. You do not have to come with a partner.

About this workshop

Become the dance partner everyone loves to dance with.

To come together from a distance, jumped lifts are incredibly useful. Jumping brings our body weight up and takes it away for a moment. To be able to read the timing is fundamental for all jumped partner elements. If you catch in the right moment you actually do not need to lift but just receive the movement.

What you will learn

... and more!!!

We can differentiate between jumps that are moving through space horizontally and travel and jumps that are going into the vertical axis to gain height. At the beginning jumped tricks might seem more scary, but eventually you will love them because they give you momentum and room to breathe.

Workshop Format

You will learn practical techniques to safely jump and catch to use in improvisation and flows.

1. Understand the principles

2. Warm-Up Movement Patterns

We start with a warm-up introducing you to movement patterns that will help you for vertical and horizontal jumps

3. Drills & Controlled Setting

To feel and refine the jump and catch timing in a controlled setting without too many variables at once. Here I will give a lot of detailed corrections and help you get correct muscle memory.

Drills & Principles

  • Timing of Jumps
  • Grip Connection
  • Long-Distance - Horizontal Jumps
  • When not to jump
4. Exploration in a Flow

After each drill we will go a step further to integrate this idea in a short flow.

5. Lifts & Sequenced Elements

Connect with 1-2 lifts that are related to the drill and practice like a choreography that starts connecting elements.

6. Improvisation Task

Include what you learned into a real open setting, how can you give cues, listen and adjust in the moment that is not choreographed or planned.

Are you ready to take your partnering to the next level?

Elke’s partnering class is a practice of communication – listening, responding, and staying present with what’s moving inside and around me. It’s strengthened my technique, expanded my movement vocabulary, and opened up new creativity and resilience. I’ve also learned to find more ease in partnership and stay grounded in the unknown. It’s changed not only how I dance, but how I move through the world. So so grateful for the work you do! Thank you Elke

Kristina J.

Elke meets everyone at their own level. I started out as a complete beginner with partnering and contact tools, but Elke made me feel like I could learn. She demonstrates and explains the techniques in a light-hearted and playful way. Since then, I have been learning in a very enjoyable and challenging way, in a good manner of course.
Thank you so much –  for your inspiration and patience! <3

Annika O.

Elke is not only a very skilled dancer but also a gifted teacher who knows how to guide with clarity and care. Her energy is uplifting and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I always leave her classes feeling inspired!
