What to expect?

In this class we will train how to flow together using different dynamics, rhythms and shapes.

This includes principles such as:

  • weight sharing
  • guiding/listening
  • manipulation
  • empty space
  • surface connection
  • resistance
  • grips/hooks

Structure of the class

Starting off with a warm-up to mobilize joints, activate our core and waking up spatial awareness. After that we are getting into contact with each other working on specific improvisational tasks that focus on one principle, to explore new pathways and understand body tension and possible reactions.

From there we move on to progressions or sometimes related lifts. This class is not going as much in depth as the Partnering Masterclasses. If you want the full dive into a topic and all the knowledge behind you can always join these and come to this class to integrate and repeat.

To become a good partner it takes practice and repetition.

Elke’s partnering class is a practice of communication – listening, responding, and staying present with what’s moving inside and around me. It’s strengthened my technique, expanded my movement vocabulary, and opened up new creativity and resilience. I’ve also learned to find more ease in partnership and stay grounded in the unknown. It’s changed not only how I dance, but how I move through the world. So so grateful for the work you do! Thank you Elke

Kristina J.

Elke meets everyone at their own level. I started out as a complete beginner with partnering and contact tools, but Elke made me feel like I could learn. She demonstrates and explains the techniques in a light-hearted and playful way. Since then, I have been learning in a very enjoyable and challenging way, in a good manner of course.
Thank you so much –  for your inspiration and patience! <3

Annika O.

I love the Connective Movement class as my weekly dose of play and nourishment. Elke created a unique format of moving in the group, which is never the same and class by class lets us extend our repertoire of connection, perception, intention. Thank you!

Your Experience

Here’s what you will experience

BOTH ROLES

Practice with different bodies, try out both roles to have a deeper understanding of the techniques.

FUN AT TRAINING

Dancing together is not just about training, it's also very social and a good way to connect.

MOBILITY & STRENGTH

Partnering helps you train to be fluid and soft in your body, but at the same time strong in your core when taking weight.

PERSONAL MOVEMENT

It's not about only copying moves but about finding your own flow with each person. You are free to explore what works, once you have the tools.

Partnering is about real communication. Get an impulse, respond. Agree or disagree.

I have found the most transformative experiences in group settings as they allow me to discover different parts of myself through interactions with others.

Frequently Asked Questions

open all
close all

Do I need to come with a partner?

No, the aim is to connect with the whole group. We will not work with a fixed partner but switch around. The beauty lies in the difference of each and learning how our bodies can adapt.

What should I wear?

Bring comfortable clothes that you can move in freely. We suggest nothing that is flowing around too much and can distract you when it's not sitting in place. My recommendation is to work barefoot and with long pants. Bring some water to cleanse your system after the session.

I cannot take much weight on my body, can I participate?

It depends on the exercises. A lot of exercises can also be adapted. For sure you can come and see how it goes - just let me know at the beginning of the session. Be prepared that there might be some tasks that include weight sharing, you do not have to do them of course, if it seems too much.
